Soft Contact Lenses
Soft Contact Lenses were first approved by the United States FDA in 1971. Compared to rigid lenses, soft lenses are usually more comfortable to wear. They are made of a type of soft, flexible plastic combined with water that allow oxygen pass through the lens to your cornea. Newer soft lens materials include silicone-hydrogels to provide more oxygen to your eye and overall comfort. Some of the lenses made of silicone hydrogels have been approved for overnight wear. As a bonus, many soft lenses provide UV protection that block harmful UV rays. Soft contact lenses have their disadvantages too, including a higher rate of infection and higher cost since they may require more frequent replacement.
Soft contact lenses are designed for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia. LensDirect offers vial contact lenses from top quality brands including Acuvue, Air Optix, Avaira, Biofinity and more.
